The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Artificial Intelligence (AI)—And why I’m using it anyway…

There’s a lot of noise about AI right now. Some people are afraid of it. Some people are abusing it. And some of us?We’re learning how to use it—intentionally.

Let’s be clear: AI is not going anywhere. So the real question isn’t if you’ll engage with it…it’s how.

The Good: When AI Actually Helps

I use AI as a tool, not a crutch!

It helps me:

Proofread my writing when I want a second set of eyes.

Create images for my business and social media.

Explore topics I’m curious about without going down a 10-tab Google rabbit hole.

Fact-check things I see in the media/news before I just accept them.

Organize my thoughts when I’m creating something to share or coach.

Honestly? I could sit down and create an entire anthology using AI as a partner. Not because AI is “doing it for me”—but because it helps me move faster, think deeper, and refine better.

I know. I’ve tried it. And you can do the same.

The Bad: Where People Get Lazy

Here’s where it starts to go left…

Some folks are using AI to replace their thinking altogether. Copy. Paste. Post. No reflection. No voice. No originality. That’s a problem.

Because if everything sounds the same, then nothing stands out. AI should enhance your voice—not erase it.

If you don’t know what you think or believe before you use AI, you’ll end up sounding like everybody else. And that’s not the goal.

The Ugly: When It’s Misused

Now let’s talk about the part people don’t always want to say out loud.

AI can be: Inaccurate if you don’t question it.

Biased depending on the data it was trained on.

Used to spread misinformation faster than ever.

Used to create content that looks real—but is NOT!

That’s the ugly side. And if you’re not careful, you can participate in spreading nonsense without even realizing it. That’s why discernment matters more now than ever. Is this AI?

My Approach: Use It, But Stay in Control

Here’s how I move with AI:

I ask better questions.

I challenge what I get back.

I rewrite it until it sounds like me.

I use it as a tool—not a replacement for my brain.

Because at the end of the day…AI doesn’t replace wisdom. AI can’t replace lived experience. AI can’t create or replace discernment. That part? That’s still on us.

Final Thought

AI is powerful. But power without intention? That’s where people get lost.

So yes—I use AI.

To create.

To learn.

To build.

And if you use it right…you don’t lose your voice. You sharpen it 🪚🪚🪚
