Take Your Hands Off

Time and time again, I see parents yanking on children. Pulling. Tugging on little shoulders. I hear them cursing at them. “Get yo “a$$ over here.” They talk to their flesh and blood like they’re strangers.

I watch. I wait. I wonder if I should say something…do something. I dare not!

But damn. I want to…

I want to yell too – “Take your damn hands off that child!”

Reflection. Studies have shown that physical punishment — including spanking, hitting and other means of causing pain — can lead to increased aggression, antisocial behavior, physical injury and mental health problems for children.

  1. Absolutely correct. It boils down to when you know better, you do better. We raise our grandchild a lot different then we did our children. We did the best we could do with the very few tools we were given. We were young, uneducated about parenthood, so we “whooped” our children, which really didn’t change a thing! Our 6 yr old granddaughter may have gotten tapped on the butt twice. We have found other ways to discipline and get better results. Our main goal is to build up our baby, to protect her sanity, instill self esteem, talk to her and not at her. It works!

I agree BFF. You know how I yanked Shara and Tee. Not proud of it but I did that bc I was spanked. When you know better, you do better. We are all much better parents/grandparents ❤️
